Mandolin MVI
It took me many years to come up with a body shape for my mandolins I am perfectly happy with, the model MVI.
Scale length: | 366 mm | (14 7/16") |
Width at nut: | 34 mm | (1 5/16") |
Width of body: | 280 mm | (11") |
OAL: | 650 mm | (25 5/8") |
It is available with a carved back, maple back and sides or as a flat back, in pretty much any quality tonewood I can lay my hands on. In general I use European spruce for the tops, though I can offer alternatives on demand.
I offer the MVI in three different versions :
The central oval hole is a great all rounder, like the A-model
The f-hole favours the mid-range and is more popular with bluegrass players
The off set soundhole brings out a lot of bright sustain and punch
